Albemarle Homes Creates Gallery for Local Children’s Artwork

Children from Shaw Wood Academy in Armthorpe, Doncaster,  will have their artwork prominently displayed at Albemarle Homes’ Westmoor Grange development, after winning an art competition.

Freddie in year 2 and Riley in year 6, are the lucky winners of the art competition, and their creations, along with two further pieces by runners up, Ivy in year 3 and Freya in year 6, will take pride of place in the newly opened sales centre in Armthorpe, where visitors from around the region will be able to see their creations.

“The artwork created by the children for our competition was amazing and we really were spoilt for choice when deciding who our winners should be,” said Charlotte Kirk, Head of Sales at Albemarle Homes “But, the pieces by Freddie and Riley both caught the eyes of all the judges, and they were really deserving winners.”

Both pieces were inspired by what the children thought their dream home would look like.  The judges were particularly impressed by the sustainable depiction shown in Riley’s drawing whereby the home had its own e-factory, providing all the power it needed.  In Freddie’s design, the judges noted the different architectural aspects including a turret roof, a tall arched entrance window and dormer window.

Freddie and Riley received an Inspiration Art Case whilst, runners up Ivy and Freya both received a book voucher for their creative designs.  All four children will have the honour of their drawings being displayed in the Albemarle Homes Armthorpe sales centre.

“When we open a new development it’s not just about building the homes,” said Charlotte. “It’s about engaging with the community and positively supporting the community for future generations.  We are really proud to display the artwork by Freddie, Ivy, Freya and Riley for the entire community to come along and enjoy too.”

Nicola Parker-Watts, the Headteacher at Shaw Wood Academy said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the competition. They researched sustainability and eco homes which allowed them to design a home for the future. We are incredibly proud of all the children involved and look forward to working with Albemarle Homes again.”

The development sales centre and show homes are open each Thursday – Saturday and Monday from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
