Beckingham and its History

The history is an important aspect to the village. Many years ago Beckingham was a typical medieval village dating back to Roman times! The village isn’t mentioned in the Doomsday book however the ‘settlement of Holme’ is in which Beckingham is included within the boundaries.

All Saints Parish Church

A focal point to Beckingham is its Grade I listed Parish Church, All Saints. It was restored in 1857 and then again in 1888.

What does Beckingham have to offer?

The Village Hall
Beckingham is largely a residential community with the village hall at its very heart. The hall is an ideal venue for residents to get together for, toddler groups, gardening clubs, band practice, etc. and also has its own social club.

The hall is one of the central focuses of the village as well as the All Saints Church, in which both bring the community of Beckingham together.

Beckingham Primary School

To facilitate everyday life there is also Beckingham Primary School which is a small friendly village school with just 90 pupils and is Ofsted rated ‘Good’.’ Education is clearly an important aspect of the village as there has been a school in Beckingham for over 100 years!

Children Play a Part in the History of the Village

As a company we feel it is important to involve the local community with our developments, that’s why we got in touch with Beckingham Primary School and asked the children to name the street within our Vicarage Fields development. We very much enjoyed reading the children’s suggestions and are looking forward to announcing the chosen address (to be decided in April 2021)!

Secondary School

Just two miles away from Beckingham is The Queen Elizabeth’s High School in Gainsborough.  A renowned secondary school with an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating, the school is a selective grammar school with an Eleven Plus entry programme.
