Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day, as it is most commonly known, is a moveable feast and is actually celebrated exactly 47 days before Easter Sunday. It’s the day before Ash Wednesday which marks the start of Lent, where traditionally people would eat pancakes to rid their food stores of fatty foods before their fasting started.
Today, it’s also a great excuse to serve up some tasty treats for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

125g plain flour
1 egg and 1 yolk
300ml milk
Serves – 12 crepe style pancakes
All sorts of toppings can be added! For sweet pancakes go with a combo of fresh fruit and whipped cream or maple syrup or Nutella. For savoury options why not try, cheddar and ham, Brie and bacon or creamy chicken and bacon.
