Albemarle Homes Supports Doncaster Primary Academy with World Book Day Donation

Children at Canon Popham C of E Primary Academy swapped their uniforms for costumes of their favourite book characters this World Book Day, and thanks to a £200 donation from local homebuilder Albemarle Homes, they’ll also have brand new stories to enjoy.

The Edenthorpe primary school, just 2 miles from the Albemarle Homes Westmoor Grange development in Armthorpe, is marking the annual celebration with its much-loved tradition of pupils dressing up as literary favourites, bringing books to life in classrooms across the school. The funding from Albemarle Homes, will be used to purchase new books and reading resources helping to encourage a love of reading across all year groups.

Charlotte Kirk, Head of Sales at Albemarle Homes said: “As a local housebuilder, we’re passionate about supporting the communities in and around where we build.  World Book Day is always a fun occasion and seeing children dressed as their favourite book characters really shows how powerful stories can be.

“We’re proud to support Canon Popham C of E Primary Academy and hope the new books will continue to inspire pupils long after the costumes are packed away.”

Mrs Shelton, Head Teacher at Canon Popham C of E Primary Academy said: “World Book Day is a real highlight in our school calendar.  The children love choosing their costumes and dressing up for the day”.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Albemarle Homes for this generous donation.  It means we can invest in new books that will be enjoyed by all pupils and hopefully encourage a lifelong love of reading.”
