Albemarle Homes Helps Armthorpe Scouts Create New Outdoor Learning Space

Albemarle Homes has helped transform the outdoor facilities at Armthorpe Scout Group by creating a brand-new patio area that will provide a safe, practical and all-weather space for young people to learn vital outdoor skills.

The project, which was delivered on behalf of Albemarle Homes by Doncaster-based contractor Alpha Site Services, has turned a previously rough and uneven area of ground into a welcoming outdoor learning environment, allowing Scouts to take part in a wider range of activities throughout the year.

The new patio will be used for a variety of hands-on Scouting experiences, including fire lighting using fire bowls, camp cooking, outdoor craft activities and learning how to safely use equipment.

Colin Tidmarsh, Lead Volunteer at the 32nd Doncaster (Armthorpe) Scout group said:  “The new patio area gives us a superb outdoor, all-weather space where the children can learn and practice a number of core Scouting activities. It has transformed what was an unusable space into a safe and functional area.”

Armthorpe Scout Group has been serving the local community for more than 100 years and continues to play an active role in village life. Alongside its regular meetings and activities, the group supports local events including Remembrance Day commemorations, community fayres and environmental initiatives such as tree planting projects.

“Support from local businesses is massively important to groups like ours. All of our leaders are volunteers, and we operate on a not-for-profit basis to ensure Scouting remains accessible to everyone in the community. Support does not always have to be financial, the Albemarle Homes patio project is a fantastic example of how a local business can make a lasting difference by helping us improve the facilities and experiences we can offer to young people in Armthorpe,” added Colin.

Darryl Barker, Managing Director of Albemarle Homes, said:  “We believe strong communities are built by supporting the people and organisations that make them special. Armthorpe Scout Group has been an important part of village life for generations, and we were delighted to help create a space that will benefit local young people for many years to come.”

The project forms part of Albemarle Homes’ ongoing commitment to supporting local community groups and initiatives across the areas where it builds, helping create thriving communities both inside and outside its developments.
